One day in late autumn, Almeda Wray’s beloved cat, Mr. Boonjie, is taken by a faerie and flown deep into mysterious West Wood. Almeda has heard scary stories about the dark magic of the Fae who live there, but she knows if she wants to find Mr. Boonjie, she must enter the Wood. She ignores the fear pounding in her chest, walks to West Wood and this time, for the first time, goes in. She meets Raven, a wily old bird, who settles on her large bun of hair, telling her there is a price to pay if she wants to find her cat, and guides her deeper into the Wood. She encounters a myriad of magical Fae that guard West Wood, including Ariya, a Fae maiden and Almeda’s little rescuer, discovering why the faeries need Mr. Boonjie for their trip to the Moon on All Hallows Eve.
